Default AFK During Glint's Allowed?

I was wondering if going afk during Glint's challenge somehow could be considered a violation of the user agreement. In a way it's kind of an exploit since you aren't playing the game and just come back for a cloth of the brotherhood, yet I read about people doing it here on guru.

Whether or not you are pressing buttons has no effect on the heroes decimating everything in any other zone of the game.

I assure you this is not against the EULA, they gave us the tools to do it, and people have been at least moderately afk doing things on this game for years.

I don't see how being AFK can be a violation. You're not using any hacks, scripts, etc.

Besides, if AFK was a violation, they would have to ban everyone AFK'ing the 9-rings.

He means afk during occupation of a zone and having heros do it.
Its similar to the ancient nerfed art of hfff and possibly like the old err the lux challenge at zos shivros.

This makes me lol for several reasons - player may have rushed to toilet / answered door / dealing with children whilst doing glints. But the funniest part i find is the player going afk - so far ive been doing glints not using the afk method and i avg 16 - 18 mins a run nm - heck is that worth going afk ?

As for banning players doin 9 rings - well that would help others out at events when its open and reduce the amount of lag generated by afkers and their infernal minipets.
But i ask you one question - how the hell would anet tell who is afk on 9 rings and who is just standing there ?????
Few events ago i was chatting to a few friends on ts whislt standing on 9 rings - i wasnt afk but i was just stood there for an hr.

Be honest here - how many of us use heros to do the work while we sit bk in quite a few zones ? The answer could be quite a lot actually - ive had it where im just about to enter a zone and its loading and gone and made a cuppa and upon return i find some idiotic foes came into range and got killed.

The problem is - is the player abusing afk in what should be as the name describes - a Challenge ( big hint on that word ) mission.Infact i know how to fix it - when last wave is killed you have 10 secs ( ample time ) to open chest then 30 secs to exit - any afkers would find themselves bk in dist and no cloths and that way you have to be present at end wave.

It's worth running in the background, while playing on another account, playing another game, watching something, writing school/job stuff.

I find it similar to SF sins, ER eles and other terribly broken builds, or ways to faceroll the game. It's there, it doesn't involve any third party software or dirty tricks, i do use it sometimes, but i wish it was nerfed into oblivion. I prefered the old times when doing Glint's with guildies was a challenge and people only started running it solo with 3 heroes + 4 henchmen, failing most of the time, than being able to completely and successfuly AFK it.

Would actually be punishing the players who did play through the mission, and as a result grabbed alot of items from thier kills, and now have a full inventory they need to manage before they can pick up the drops from the chest.

Also, possible lag, rubber-banding and d/c problems could occur and cause you to unfairly miss your earned reward, as you'd lose the opportunity to open the chest by the time they resolved themselves.

So, yeah...bad solution.

You already only have 2:30 to loot, making it 40secs instead wouldn't really change much, generally you want to come back before it's over(like on the last wave) so you can loot all the stuff on the ground, get the chest and reset right away. A potential fix would be to make the baby dragon move around between waves, so that you couldn't have all your heroes around him every wave, but would still give time for normal players to prepare. It wouldn't prevent afking entirely unless it moves REALLY far, but it'd be more prone to fail.
